Information
Upskill TB is a free, innovative global online learning platform designed to strengthen the response to Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis (DR-TB). The platform offers expert-led modules focused on the BPaL/M regimen, supporting the development of both knowledge and practical competencies in DR-TB care, patient management, and health system strengthening.
Upskill TB is designed for healthcare professionals, program managers, policymakers, and others involved in TB care and control. The platform can be accessed anytime and anywhere through laptops, smartphones, and tablets, making it convenient for self-paced learning.
Key features include case studies, interactive quizzes, a competency evaluation system, discussion forums, and self-study materials. The Upskill TB team is also actively developing new modules and features to expand the platform beyond BPaL/M and further support global DR-TB implementation.

Background
Despite rising global detection of DR-TB, treatment enrollment remains critically low, never reaching even 50% worldwide. At the same time, treatment outcomes are still far from ideal, with only 68% of patients successfully treated in 2021, meaning others are lost, face severe complications, or die, increasing ongoing transmission risks. While the WHO-recommended 6-month all-oral BPaL/M regimen offers new hope for DR-TB care, innovation alone is not enough without a well-prepared health workforce.
Significant training gaps across healthcare professionals continue to limit effective implementation of new regimens, highlighting the urgent need for accessible, competency-based learning. To address this challenge, Upskill TB was developed as an expert-led, interactive, and practical digital platform designed to strengthen DR-TB workforce skills and support better patient outcomes globally.
